Mag. Dr.phil habil Gerit Bettina Götzenbrucker
Gerit Bettina Götzenbrucker is an associate professor at the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna. Her research focus lies on
- Media innovations and effects of technology
- Media cultures and digital gaming research
- Visual communication and digital journalism.
In 2006, she habilitated with her work on 'Social networks in businesses. Potential computer supported communication in working processes'. At the moment she is a member of the management for the doctoral study programme at the University of Vienna. The research project 'Serious Beats' is funded by the WWTF and focuses on the potential of digital games for the integration of young immigrants in Vienna, in particular, the positive impact games 'YourTurn!'. As another current project, 'Sparking Games' investigates the game-based appropriation of knowledge on the topic of 'Informatics and Society' in cooperation with schools in Vienna. Together with Mag. Margarita Köhl, she conducts research on visual communication in the intercultural ASEA project 'Pictorial affect!', and within the project 'Picture Practices' by Maria Schreiber she focused on practices of youth in social media platforms.
